Visitors from the USA, most Western European countries, New Zealand, and Australia receive a 90-day permit on arrival. A return or onward ticket is required.

The currency of South Korea is the won (₩).
Coins: 10, 50, 100, 500 won
Banknotes: 1,000; 5,000; 10,000; 50,000 won.

Packing

Seoul can be very cold, especially in winter, so pack warm clothing.
Deodorant is not widely available in Seoul, so it’s best to bring your own.

    Public Wi-Fi is widely available, but renting a pocket Wi-Fi or getting a local SIM card at the airport can make navigating the city much easier.
  • Etiquette
    It’s polite to use both hands when giving or receiving items, especially money or gifts.
    On public transportation, keep noise low—phone calls are discouraged.
  • Food & Dining
    Korean cuisine can be spicy. If you prefer milder dishes, you can say “gogi mandeuseyo” (less spicy, please).
    Some restaurants bring side dishes automatically—these are usually free.
  • Cash vs. Card
    Credit cards are widely accepted, but keep some cash for street food stalls, markets, and small shops.
  • Weather Awareness
    Summers can be hot and humid, especially during monsoon season (late June–July), so pack light clothing and an umbrella.
